The second largest city of Tajikistan

Khujand (formerly Leninabad, Khojent) - the second largest and most important city of Tajikistan, spreads out majestically on the both banks of Syrdarya River at an altitude of 300 meters above sea level in the western part of the Fergana Valley. It is like a "gateway to the Fergana Valley", is located between the spurs of the Turkestan range in the south and mountains to the north Mogoltau. Modern Khujand is an important transport hub and the largest economic and cultural center of northern Tajikistan.

Contemporary of Alexander the Great

Khujand is one of the oldest cities of Central Asia. This city is as old as Bukhara and Samarkand, and witnessed the conquests of Alexander the Great, who captured this city, fortified it and gave it a new name - Alexandria Eskhata ("Alexandria the farthest"). Since ancient times, Khujand, being at the crossroads of caravan routes of Great Silk Road, was one of the most important economic, military-strategic and cultural centers of Central Asia. There is a number of preserved historical monuments in the city, for instance Khujand Fortress.

Paradise for active tourism

Tourists will appreciate the cozy and green city with many parks and gardens, the mountain scenery, clean air, running water of Syrdarya river, which divides the city into two parts. Khujand is located not far from a man-made Kairakkum water reservoir, where are all opportunities for recreation: boating, windsurfing, fishing and interesting excursions. Numerous mountaineers - the conquerors of Fann Mountains of Pamir also go through Khujand.
